Androsace alpina

Androsace alpina grows on the shaded north side of the Cresta de le Sele in rock of volcanic origin.  It is relatively common in the Alps though most often in a pink form.  The pink form is rarely found in the Dolomites though in the top left picture a slightly pink form is present between two white forms.  Though a spectacular plant in the wild is is difficult to grow in the garden.

Androsace alpina is not often found in the Dolomites as it only grows on rock of volcanic origin and limestone and dolomite are the most common rocks in the Dolomites.
