Saxifraga valdensis   


 
 



Saxifraga valdensis has very dense, hard rosettes with reflexed thick textured leaves.  The white flowers on short stems are particularly attractive.  It occurs on limestone cliffs along the France/Italy divide and the limited extent in France can be seen in this map:

Some of the specimens above the Col Lacroix are very old with ancient woody stems as can be seen in this picture.













 

Saxifraga valdensis has a very limited range on the France/Italy border in the Cottian Alps.
