Androsace villosa

Androsace villosa grows in limestone environments and is quite easily grown in the garden.  On Tuca de Possolobino it grows on fellfields at elevation 2300 to 2400 m in elegant cushions among Arenaria tetraquatra.  The flowers are white with a yellow eye turning to red with age.

Androsace villosa is a cushion plant of high alpine areas.  While it often grows in rock crevices the plants on this hike are all on stony slopes on the south ridge of Tuca de Possolobino.
